Life Within Decay

Decay—often associated with dirt, discomfort, and repulsion—is, in truth, nature’s way of embracing the passage of time. I find beauty in this process, where decay becomes a source of renewal and transformation. For this project, I drew inspiration from images of water damage, damp patches, and the moss that thrives in these environments, symbolizing new life emerging from decay. Working with both table looms and dobby looms, I explored techniques such as blending fibers, partial weaving, and lace weaving, aiming to capture the delicate balance between deterioration and rebirth in my textile designs.

As moss and fuzzy plant structures usually can be found near the ground level, shoe visualisations connect conceptually to the inspiration.
